We have enough poetry about infatuation, but we don’t have enough on love. In it’s most basic form, love is when we do something to show another person we care about them and we want them to be happy. Appreciating the love we already receive attracts more love, and allows us to honor the meaningful people and connections in our lives.
Who are the people in your lives that love you, but have not been told how much it is appreciated and needed?
I think you love me
not romantically
more like friendly,
the ember of a campfire smoldering warmly
I feel loved when you message me
I feel loved when you feed me
I feel loved when we spend time together just chatting
I feel loved when you invite me to come by and hang out
Infatuation takes no effort
it feels good but it shows no trying
but I know you took the time and energy,
to say with your action that you love me
So I want to take a moment to say,
Thank you for doing the work to love me
to gift me your effort and energy
to make me feel special and honored
witnessed and nurtured
heard and understood
From the heart that is thankful to be loved
Thank you for being part of my life
and loving me
